FAQs
What is the Medical Research Giving Day and how does it work?
Medical Research Giving Day is an Australian first. One day where a group of medical research institutes are coming together for one purpose – to create awareness and raise much needed funds for medical research across the country.
31 medical research institutes across Australia are participating. The campaign was created by participating institutes and is proudly supported by the Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes (AAMRI).
How do I donate to Medical Research Giving Day?
To make a donation to the Medical Research Giving Day, you will need to select 1 of the 31 participating institutes and make a donation via their giving form on this site. Your gift will go directly to your chosen institute.
If you would like to support multiple institutes, you will need to make these donations separately.
I can’t decide who to give to – how do I choose?
31 medical research institutes is a lot to choose from and we are very fortunate to have such a breadth of expertise in Australia.
You can filter by State or by Research Area to find an institute that matches your interests.
You can make a gift to as many institutes as you like, but as your gift is made directly to that medical research institute, you will need to make each gift separately.
How do I get a tax receipt for my gift?
You will get a receipt via email immediately after making your gift.
How does matched giving work?
Some institutes may have matched giving options. This is where a generous donor (or group of donors) has committed funds toward the matching of gifts secured on the Giving Day. Each institute may have different matched giving arrangements.
Giving Day is 9 September – can I donate before the day?
Yes, you will be able to donate prior to 9 September! Register your interest on this site and we will let you know when you can make your gift.
I don’t want to give online, is there another way I can make my gift?
If you do not wish to donate online, please contact the research institute that you wish to support directly. Their contact details can be found on their individual page on this website.
Where do the funds go?
Your gift will go directly to the medical research institute that you wish to support. There will be no pooling of funds.
The institute you choose to select may be raising funds for a specific area of research, health, equipment or simply to support the area of highest need. This detail can be found on the individual institute pages on this site.
How is my personal information handled?
Any information collected by AAMRI during the campaign registration process will be handled in accordance with AAMRI’s Privacy Policy.
If you choose to make a donation, this will be made directly to the medical research institute you select. Any personal information collected as part of that donation process will be handled by that institute in accordance with its own collection notice and privacy policy.
I have lost my receipt, how do I get a copy?
Please contact the institute that you donated to and they can provide you with a copy.
I have a question – who do I contact?
Please reach out to: hello@medicalresearchday.org.au with any questions.
