Since being founded as Western Australia's first medical research institute in 1982, the Perron Institute has built a track record of innovation. We have contributed to three world-first medical breakthroughs: demonstrating that muscle can be regenerated, pioneering genetic patching in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and playing a key role in identifying the first gene linked to motor neurone disease. That spirit of ambition and rigour remains at the core of everything we do, grounded in credibility, built on trust, and driven by a genuine belief in what this Institute can achieve.
