How your donation helps
Breast cancer treatment has come a long way, and survival rates are strong when it is caught early.
But for some patients, a small number of cancer cells escape treatment and go quiet, hiding in the body, before multiplying and spreading.
This is called metastatic breast cancer. It is harder to treat, and the leading cause of breast cancer deaths.
Prof Delphine Merino, Dr Belinda Yeo and their team at ONJCRI are working to find these cells before they cause harm. They are developing new tools to spot patients at risk of recurrence, and new ways to stop metastatic cells before they take hold.
This National Medical Research Giving Day, every dollar you give goes directly to this research, and brings us closer to a future where fewer families face the fear of losing someone to metastatic breast cancer.
