About

Hunter Medical Research Institute

Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) is Australia's largest regional medical research institute, turning ideas into action to make our community healthier.

Our researchers tackle the biggest health challenges facing the Hunter New England region, from cancer and heart disease to mental health and healthy ageing.

Women's health has historically been under-researched and under-funded, a gap that affects the wellbeing of entire families and communities.

That's why HMRI researchers are driving women's health research. This Medical Research Giving Day, we're inviting our community to help change that and support real breakthroughs for local women and families.

How your donation helps

Through our community surveys almost 1,000 women across Hunter New England told us what matters most to them, from cancer and reproductive health to mental health, healthy ageing and domestic violence.

Every dollar you give through Medical Research Giving Day stays right here in our region, funding equipment, bringing researchers together and giving local women a stronger voice in shaping the research that affects them.

Together we're aiming to raise $100,000 to turn new ideas into real progress and help local women see better answers, sooner.
